Pantelis Voulgaris was movingly present at the anniversary screening of the legendary "Happy Day"!
On Wednesday, July 8th, the 16th Athens Open Air Film Festival powered by DEI had the rare pleasure and great honour of welcoming the distinguished Greek director to the screening of his masterpiece.
The film was presented more beautifully than ever in a 4K digital restoration by the Greek Film Archive, with an advanced image and sound system provided by ART OF SOUND, specially employed to honour Pantelis Voulgaris’s directorial vision as faithfully as possible.
The screening marked the 50th anniversary of the premiere of this unique landmark in the history of Greek cinema. It took place in the garden of the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture, a beautiful new venue opening its doors to the arts with determination and warmth, as part of a collaboration entitled “From the Book to the Screen.”
Reserved, poetic and deeply moving, Pantelis Voulgaris watched the film and, at the end, warmly thanked the audience for honouring him with their presence.
The honour was entirely ours!
