In a small village on the island of Chios during the 60’s, a local field guard dies. Few are those who would be interested in getting his position because of the village’s bad reputation, but the pay is good. Four field guards take their turn at the job and fail one after the other.

«The Spring Gathering» is a lyrical - full of humor – tale, which does not hesitate to combine Tsitsanis and Kazantzidis with Vivaldi’s «Four Seasons». With Dimos Avdeliodis’ mastery, it becomes a beautiful exposé having one foot on Viziinos’ greek tradition and the other one on a genuine cinematic simplicity to be proud about. «The Spring Gathering» remains to this day, one of the unexplored diamonds of modern Greek cinema. It won the FIPRESCI and State awards for direction, taking also part in the Berlin International Film Festival. Christos Politis
