Yannis is an impulsive 30 year-old man, who is obsessed with movies, and who decides it is time to openly pursue Eva, even though she is dating his best friend, Yorgos. Temporarily, he will win her over; soon however, this perky love triangle will seek for balance as they all move in together, a rather questionable resolution. Nikos Vergitsis encapsulates, within the urban summertime landscape of the 80’s, the reckless love game between three young people who are in the middle of an identity crisis and who are trying to lift the burden of their own ambivalent emotions.
The director, who studied in France and who has made no more than three features, is at his best with this film. He invades the murky waters that flood the characters’ personal worlds, while he blends reality and fantasy into an erotic drama which was cherished by the young people of the time.
The film includes a magnificent Dimitri Poulikakos at a secondary role, but also one of the most memorable leading couples of the modern Greek cinema.
The being of «Revanche» in the Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival was the highlight of a film which swept the awards on the national territory (Thessaloniki International Film Festival, State Awards). Nektarios Sakkas
